- Edzell Castle the Ancestral home of Clan
Lindsey, with its 17th century garden created
by Sir David Lindsay.
- Fasque House home to
William Gladstone, four times Prime Minister
of Britain.

Adam and built in 1730 for David Erskin,
Lord Dun. Glaims Castle birth place of the
Queen Mother.

The Brown and White Caterthuns,
sites of Iron Age hill forts.

of the Picts Visitor Centre.
- Brechin museum, introduces visitors in to the history
of the town its people, crafts and local archaeology.
- Brechin Cathedral and Round Tower, tower dating back
to the 11th or 12th century and the cathedral built in
the 14th century.
- Brechin bridge known locally as the "Auld Brig" one of the oldest
stone bridges in Scotland and until the 1780's it was the only bridge over the
South Esk.
- Caledonian Railway, steam locomotives and museum, steam locomotives run between
Brechin and Bridge of Dun.
- Dalhousie Arch erected in 1887 to the memory of the 13th Earl of Dalhousie
and his Countess who died with in a few hours of each other.

forms an encyclopaedic view of past Glen life.
HILL WALKING, MOUNTAIN BIKING AND HORSE TREKKING
Remembering that you may be in Scotland for the
scenery of the hills and Glens which we have
overwhelming amounts close, Glen Esk, Glen
Clova, Glen Lethnot, Glen Ogil, Glen Isla,
Glen Prosen, etc are only a few.
If you travel up Glen Esk there are scenic walks
that take you around Loch Lee. This glen is in
the eastern Grampian Mountains or Benchinnan
mountains which has Mount Keen rising in the
back ground to the north at over 3000 ft while
there visit the Queens Well or alternatively
you can walk across the hills to Ballater. If
you prefer one may drive to the top of the Cairn-a-Mount
which is a crossing road from Angus to Royal
Deeside at this point there are breath taking
views in all directions, over the land and to
the sea.
THE LOCAL DRAM
While in Scotland you may wish to sample the
local "Dram" , Whisky, close at
hand we have Fettercairn Distillery, one
of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland,
free tours available between May and September. |
